Culture

The faculty, staff and leadership of Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital and the IU School of Medicine—Bloomington Emergency Medicine Residency is fully committed to ensuring its faculty, staff and trainees feel welcome. We are fortunate to welcome learners from all walks of life and will support prospective residents in identifying the unique experiences they bring to the GME milieu. Application review will be holistic in nature, considering all aspects of each candidate’s experience that they will bring to the learning environment. Academic proficiency, clinical accomplishments and cultural contributions will all be considered when deciding which applicants to interview for residency positions.

IU School of Medicine provides several programs aimed to assist with the recruitment and retention of residents. Robust mentorship and academic support will be incorporated into our visiting student rotation. The Multicultural Physician’s Alliance is an organization that facilitates professional exchange and collaboration between residents and IU School of Medicine to support causes that increase broad retention of our residents and foster engagement in the larger organization.

Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine Practice

"Bloomington is a small yet diverse town: culturally, academically, socially, etc. Having spent most of my medical school years on Bloomington’s campus and having been taught by a variety of outstanding clinicians, I developed a passion for returning to the Bloomington community after residency and building a career of helping patients right in the heart of Indiana University."
