Bio

Juan Carlos Venis, MD, MPH, FAAFP, AAHIVS is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is the founder and primary care physician at INcircle Health, a direct primary care clinic in downtown Indianapolis offering inclusive, relationship-centered care. His clinical interests include preventive care, chronic disease management, HIV prevention and treatment, LGBTQ+ health, obesity medicine, and lifestyle medicine.

Dr. Venis teaches in the Foundations of Clinical Practice and Health Systems Science Year 1 courses. Historically, Dr. Venis has been involved in curriculum development within the Department of Family Medicine, and he previously directed the advanced clinical elective in LGBTQ+ Primary Care. He is proud to have helped develop the LGBTQ+ Health Track for family medicine residents at IU Indianapolis in addition to leading the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Conference planning committee and serving as a facilitator of the IU Indianapolis Fairbanks School of Public Health LGBTQ+ Health ECHO Clinic.

Originally from Central Indiana, Dr. Venis is a graduate of Wabash College and IU School of Medicine. He earned his MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and completed residency at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his husband and their dogs, staying active, trying new foods, and traveling.
